Insurance Law Attorneys

Insurance law is the practice of law concerning insurance policies and claims. If you are in need of a local New Orleans insurance law attorney please contact us today. We have extensive experience in insurance law including many issues that are crucially important to New Orleans and Louisiana residents such as hurricane insurance.

Insurance law is generally composed of two categories:

  • insurance claims (including personal and commercial)
  • the regulation of the insurance industry and companies

Insurance Claims
Insurance claims take many forms and the attorneys of Greenberg & LaPeyronnie, LLC have represented and litigated many and various aspects of these claims including:

Making a claim or filing suit. An individual’s usual experience in insurance claims is the making of a claim against the insurance company of an individual or company who has injured our client (and sometimes our client’s own insurance company).

Defense against a claim or suit. In situations where our clients have been sued, we have reviewed our client’s own insurance policy and have been successful in having our client’s own insurance company pay for the client’s legal representation, thus relieving our client of the cost of hiring defense counsel.

Life insurance claims. In other situations, we have assisted clients who had claims for life insurance proceeds due to the death of a loved one when the claim for policy benefits was denied. We have done this by filing lawsuits in both state and federal courts. Due to these efforts, the insurance companies retracted their denials and paid death benefits to our clients.

Hurricane Insurance Claims – Critical to life in the New Orleans area
Hurricane damage is one of the most heated issues for those of us living in the Gulf Coast area. A local New Orleans insurance law attorney can be a tremendous asset in protecting your rights and helping restore what you have lost in the event of a hurricane.

A recent example from one of our clients:

The attorneys of Greenberg & LaPeyronnie, LLC assisted its client in preparing and submitting an insurance claim and demand for coverage after the client suffered a rather large loss of business income due to Hurricane Katrina. Once the insurance company denied this claim, the attorneys of Greenberg & LaPeyronnie, LLC successfully litigated its client’s loss of business income claim receiving a unanimous vote of the jury which awarded our client the entire amount sought for loss of business income and statutory penalties.

Insurance law regulation
As to the regulation of business insurance, Adrian LaPeyronnie served as special legal counsel for the Louisiana Department of Insurance in the conservation, rehabilitation and liquidation of insurance companies.

Personal Injury Attorneys

Personal Injury Law
Personal injury law protects those that are injured due to the negligent acts or omissions of another person or entity. When someone is injured in an accident, the most important thing is to seek appropriate medical treatment and care to safeguard yourself and other members of your family who may have been injured. Cooperation with the investigating authorities is important as well to ensure that the details of the incident are well documented.

If you have reason to believe that you have been injured due to the fault of someone else, you should consider consulting with a competent attorney and law firm to discuss how you were injured and what remedies exist for you. Our personal injury attorneys have been involved in the prosecution and defense of personal injury lawsuits for all of their careers.

Successions, Wills And Probate Attorneys

If you think you need a Louisiana succession attorney, it’s probably because a relative or someone who was close to you has died. For Louisiana residents there are very important rules which much be followed when writing a will or handling a succession proceeding.
If you are looking for a succession, wills or probate attorney in New Orleans, Louisiana please call us. The law firm of Greenberg and LaPeyronnie has extensive experience handling these cases with the utmost sensitivity as well as the attention to detail needed for a successful outcome.

Wills, Probate and Succession Law in Louisiana

At some point in our lives, we start to think of what will happen to our assets when our time here is gone. It is prudent for all of us to consider writing a will so that we can direct who will be entitled to our assets upon our death. Considerations include protecting family and loved ones and those special causes each of us may have. A last will and testament can be written to ensure that your wishes are carried out at the time of your death.

In Louisiana, we have three ways to handle a succession or probate proceeding:

  • Use of a simple placing into possession. Although not simple, this is a process which can be used if an estate is relatively free from debt and all heirs or legatees are in agreement regarding the handling of the estate.
  • Independent administration. A relatively new procedure called independent administration allows an independent administrator to handle more complex successions in a much more efficient manner than handled in the past.
  • Administered succession. The third option is the traditional administered succession which provides safeguards for those more complex succession proceedings.
The attorneys of Greenberg and LaPeyronnie, LLC routinely compose last wills and testaments for their clients and have handled and litigated all types of succession or probate proceedings. Their wide range of knowledge concerning succession law and other areas of the law allow them to provide efficient and effective representation in their handling of these matters.
